The Sarah Jane Adventures - Cast

Fleeing from the Slitheen child, Maria and Clyde rejoin Luke, who has just evaded capture by Blakeman. Meanwhile, at the offices of Coldfire Construction, Sarah uses her perfume to stun the Slitheen disguised as Janine. Jumping into her car, Sarah calls Luke on her mobile and tells him how to overpower the aliens; with the aid of Clyde’s deodorant, the three kids hold off their pursuers long enough for Sarah to come to their rescue. With their quarry lost, Blakeman and Jeffrey return to their control room, waxing lyrical on making enough money to buy a fleet that will take them home to wipe out their government and their rival families. Back home, Sarah uses Mr Smith to learn about the invaders from the planet Raxacoricofallapatorius. When the gang determine that the aliens’ capacitor systems will act as a transducers that will convert the Earth’s heat and light into energy, and that all the Coldfire constructions sites across the world are situated above underground railway systems that will act as a giant cooling system, Luke realises he inadvertently gave the Slitheen the means to destroy the world. Back at Park Vale School, Blakeman, Jeffrey and Carl contact their fellow family members and instruct them to activate their transducers – and all over the world, major cities are thrown into darkness: first Los Angeles, then China, then Washington D.C. … Just as Mr Smith is about to inform Sarah of the Slitheens’ weakness London also suffers a power cut. When Clyde recalls an incident when Mr Jeffrey reacted badly to his cold-chip sandwich packed lunch, his friends deduce that vinegar is dangerous to a calcium-based life form; Sarah immediately leads them on a raid of her kitchen for ammunition. Meanwhile, Carl activates the transducer, draining the sun of all its energy… Arriving at Park Vale, Sarah and the gang hold the Slitheen at bay with vinegar sprays; while Sarah and Luke race for the control room, Maria kills Blakeman with a liberal dash of vinegar. Realising that one of their number has just been blown to pieces, Jeffrey and Carl recall the rest of their family who materialise inside the control room in time to seize Sarah and Luke. As Maria and Carl are also brought in, the Slitheen reveal that they want revenge for the deaths of the rest of their family, who were killed during a previous scheme (see ‘Doctor Who’: ’Aliens of London’ and ’World War Three’). When the Slitheen power systems begin overloading, Luke tricks the aliens into allowing him to fix them; catching Sarah’s nicely lobbed sonic lipstick, Luke zaps the machine, sending it wildly out of control. With deadly energy arcing through the room several of the Slitheen are killed; as the rest teleport to safety, Sarah and her friends head outside. Trapped in the closing door, Jeffrey and Carl beg for help; Sarah turns to help, but she is too late: the equipment explodes, electrocuting Jeffrey. However, Carl is teleported away… A short while later, after Sarah has contacted her friends at U.N.I.T. to arrange for a clean up operation, and instructed Mr Smith to insert a cover story into the newspapers that attributes recent events to a temporal reversal of the Earth’s poles, Maria is reunited with her estranged parents. While Maria puts up with her self-centred mother’s winging, Carl asks Sarah about alien hunting; swearing him to secrecy, Sarah explains that she once travelled through space and time with a friendly alien known as the Doctor, and that she now carries on his legacy by saving mankind from extraterrestrial threats. As Carl and Maria set off for school, Sarah tells Luke that she is proud of him – in return, he hugs her and calls her “mum”.
