'Immaculate' (Part 2) by Joe Harris

In Murphysville, North Carolina, Mulder and Scully investigate the trail of dead bodies as Joanie Cartwright continues on her journey, recruiting the townsfolk and then turning them against their neighbours. Setting up camp in the Great Smoky Mountains, Joanie heralds the arrival of her master, inciting many of her followers to blindly jump to their deaths. Scully conducts an autopsy on one of the gunshot victims and learns that they were blinded by an intense light before being literally scared to death; Scully then visits the local pastor, who has an unhealthy love of Joanie… Up in the mountains, Mulder leads an FBI team on a manhunt, and receives a visit from former agent and ex- Millennium Group-member Frank Black. Frank brings Mulder a warning: it seems that that when Joanie called out to God, it wasn’t he who answered, but something far worse…
