Lady Penelope buys an old oilrig located in international waters, planning to decommission and convert it into a cleaner solar plant; but when she, Parker and Kayo visit the rig, its belligerent supervisor vehemently objects to her plan, setting fire to the platform and then escaping in the only lifeboat. With the help of crewman Doyle, Penelope and Parker use foam canon to put out the fire; but the then a huge crack tears across the platform, breaking old rig in half! Concerned that the sinking platform will snap the drill pip underneath, spilling tons of oil into the ocean, Kayo contacts <I>International Rescue</I>; as Virgil races to the scene in <I>Thunderbird 2</I>, Parker and Penelope use <I>FAB 1</I> to attach the rig crane’s cable to the underside of the broken platform, allowing Doyle to use the crane to stabilise the collapse. While submerged, <I>FAB 1</I> detects several crewmen trapped inside; they were locked in by Molloy, and their compartment is rapidly filling with water. Donning an EVA suit, Penelope swims across and manually closes the drill pipe’s valve, cutting off the oil supply; meanwhile, Kayo uses <I>Thunderbird Shadow</I> to help Doyle lift the broken platform higher; but the stress on the crane is too much and it snaps in half – and as the platform crashes back into the water, the wreckage of the crane plunges towards <I>FAB 1</I> and Penelope…
