At Tracy Island, Kayo is about to confess her family secret to all her <I>International Rescue</I> friends when they are interrupted by a series of emergencies across the globe. Everyone springs into action: Scott takes <I>Thunderbird 1</I> to find a hiker stranded on a mountain-top; Virgil in <I>Thunderbird 2</I> must deal with a cave-in; Alan heads into space in <I>Thunderbird 3</I> to intercept a malfunctioning transport shuttle; Gordon leaves in <I>Thunderbird 4</I> to help a sunken deep-sea submersible; John and Brains collaborate on reactivating the Global Flood Network control satellite, using a space Pod from <I>Thunderbird 5</I>; and Kayo in <I>Thunderbird Shadow</I> is sent to rescue an injured motorcyclist stranded in the Great Victoria desert. With Grandma now on monitor duty, the Tracy boys quickly arrive at their designated locations, only to discover that there are no people to rescue. When Kayo deduces that the riderless motorcycle she has found has been dropped from the air, she immediately suspects a trick. Racing back to Tracy Island, Kayo notes that someone has tampered with the island’s security system; she orders Brains and Grandma to the secure bunker, and then contacts Lady Penelope with instructions to activate WASP - the Wide Area Security Protocol. Meanwhile, Scott, Virgil, Alan, Gordon and John have left their vehicles to continue their search – but all they find are bombs! Arriving at Tracy Island, Kayo is unsurprised to find the Hood sitting at the control desk; her uncle makes his demands: he will only deactivate the motion-triggered bombs if <I>International Rescue</I> hands over control of Tracy Island and the <I>Thunderbirds</I>. With her friends’ lives at risk, Kayo is forced to agree – it looks like the Hood has finally won…
