In an underground base beneath the Gran Roca Ranch in Arizona, Lady Penelope, Parker and Grandma watch as Brains test his new Gecko Gloves on the Tracy boys and Kayo. During the session Max malfunctions and increases the training environment to a dangerous level; Kayo deactivates the rogue robot before anyone is hurt, and Brains begins an investigation into what happened... Downtime at the family ranch is interrupted by an intruder alert; Kayo, Penelope and Parker fly off to investigate, but are forced to make crash landings when both <I>Thunderbird Shadow</I> and <I>FAB 1</I> malfunction. Exploring the area, Kayo, Penelope and Parker discover an abandoned camera; they soon find its owner: reporter Kat Cavanaugh, who lies trapped under a rockslide at the bottom of a tunnel. The trio get a message back to the ranch, but then the comms go down; Scott, Virgil, Gordon and Alan prepare to leave in <I>Thunderbirds 1</I> and <I>2</I>, but the aircraft break down before they even leave the hanger. While the boys use their dad’s old hover bikes to reach their friends and Kat, Brains downloads EOS and John receives confirmation that <I>Thunderbird 5</I> is still operational. Joining Penelope, Parker and Kayo, Scott coordinates an old-school rescue, with Virgil, Alan and Gordon using a pulley system to recover Kat. Meanwhile, EOS checks the local Z-band network and identifies a modified transmitter node in the hanger; Brains heads off to the comms room – and runs straight into the Mechanic, who has taken over the compound…
