Star Trek The Next Generation Cast

The U.S.S. Enterprise is en route for Kaldra IV, transporting a delegation of Ullians - a race of telepathic historians who conduct their research by probing the long-forgotten memories of their subjects. During dinner with Captain Picard and the crew, Tarmin humiliates his inexperienced son Jev; the young man angrily storms off, followed by a concerned Counselor Troi, who has some experience dealing with a domineering parent. Later that evening, as Troi prepares for bed, she unexpectedly experiences a flashback to a romantic incident between herself and Commander Riker; however, the scene quickly becomes violent, and Riker's face changes to that of Jev; back in her quarters, Troi falls unconscious. While Doctor Crusher attempts to determine the cause for Troi’s coma, Riker questions Jev about his visit with the counsellor the previous evening, and suggests that the Ullians may have brought harmful organisms on board the ship; Jev is offended, but agrees to an examination by Doctor Crusher. Riker stays to watch over Troi, but is eventually sent to bed by the doctor. However, on reaching his quarters Riker experiences a flashback to a disaster in engineering, in which a crewmember wearing Jev’s face accuses him of leaving an ensign to die by. As Jev continually reappears in his memory, Riker also slips into a coma. Beverly discovers that Riker and Troi's brain tissue show an abnormality in the area associated with memory development; she informs Captain Picard, who asks the Ullians to voluntarily quarantine themselves in order to protect any further incidents. But Beverly soon experiences a dream in which she and Picard visit the corpse of her dead husband; the captain’s features transform into those of Jev, and when Beverly sees Jev’s face staring back at her from the mortuary slab, she too falls into a coma…
