The U.S.S. Enterprise is sent to investigate strange reports concerning the starship U.S.S. Tsiolkovsky, currently monitoring the collapse of a red-orange star. But when the away team beams across to the ship they discover several frozen corpses aboard a ship scattered with food, wine and discarded clothes. Geordi inadvertently becomes exposed to a contagious virus, and when he returns to the Enterprise, the disease quickly infects the entire crew, causing them to behave as if intoxicated and mentally unstable. While Doctor Crusher desperately searches for an antidote, Tasha discovers that Data’s android body is anatomically correct - and in fully-working order; meanwhile Wesley takes control of the ship - then part of the star's surface breaks off and heads on a collision course with the Enterprise…
