Star Trek The Next Generation Cast

The U.S.S. Enterprise visits the desolate world of Velara III, where a group of terraformers are attempting to transform the planet into one capable of supporting life. But after one of the terraformers is killed in a bizarre hydraulic room accident, Data is attacked by the laser drilling system; the android is able to escape unharmed, and, together with Lieutenant Geordi La Forge, begins an investigation into the strange events. The two officers discover a microscopic inorganic life-form which seems to be attempting to communicate with them; they take the "microbrain" back to the ship for studying, but the creature produces an energy field and then starts reproducing inside the medical laboratory. Data and Geordi find a way to talk to the microbrain and learn that the terraformers' drilling killed some of its fellow creatures; when all attempts at communicating with the engineers were ignored, the life-forms retaliated by killing the engineer in the hydraulic room - and they have now declared war on the human race…
