Two Klingon fugitives, Korris and Konmel, hijack a Talarian spaceship in an attempt to recapture the fighting glory they belive is now absent from their people. Having destroyed the Klingon ship sent to capture them, the warriors’ disabled vessel is about to explode when they are rescued by the <I>U.S.S. Enterprise</I>. Captain Picard is unaware of the Klingons’ motives, and so instructs Lieutenant Worf to show his comrades around the Federation ship, but it isn’t long before Korris and Konmel attempt to turn Worf to their cause. When a Klingon ship appears the captain informs Picard of the fugitives' crimes, and demands that they be handed over immediately; however, the two criminals attempt to escape; Konmel is killed, while Korris manages to seize control of the <I>Enterprise</I>’s engine room and threatens to destroy the ship. Worf now finds himself torn between his new life in Starffleet and his honour as a Klingon warrior…
