Starfleet Command despatches the U.S.S. Enterprise to rendezvous with K'Ehleyr, a half-human, half-Klingon emissary. After she beams aboard, K'Ehleyr informs Captain Picard that he and his crew must intercept a Klingon vessel called the T'Ong; its crew have been in cryogenic suspension for a century, and come from a time when their Empire was at war with the Federation; if these Klingons were to wake up within striking range of key Federation outposts, the results could be devastating. Picard orders Lieutenant Worf to liaise with K'Ehleyr concerning the situation with the T'Ong, unaware that the two Klingons were once romantically involved; the meeting quickly turns into a bitter, personal argument, and the two nearly come to blows. Meanwhile, the Enterprise tracks down the T'Ong, only to discover that its crew has been revived, and are preparing to open fire on the Federation ship now approaching them...
