Star Trek The Next Generation Cast

The U.S.S. Enterprise destroys an asteroid threatening the Pelloris Field; the ship then continues towards the Moselina system, unaware that a cloud of dust has settled on the ship’s hull. Meanwhile, Counselor Troi helps Lieutenant Worf and his son Alexander settle their dispute over rules by suggesting that they draw up a contract that both would then follow; but as Troi reassures Alexander that one day he will come to respect his father, she learns that her overbearing mother, Lwaxana, has beamed aboard. Troi is shocked to hear that her mother is now planning to get married while on the Enterprise, to a man that she has never met. Dismissing her daughter’s protests, Lwaxana takes an instant liking to Alexander, and persuades him to forego his appointment with Troi in favour of a trip to the holodeck; here they enjoy talking to artists, poets and free thinkers, and then a relaxing dip in a mud-bath. But while Lwuxana’s frivolity threatens to push her new friend further away from his father, elsewhere aboard the ship, minor malfunctions begin to occur. Lieutenant LaForge and Lieutenant Commander Data discover that parts of the ship are being transformed into a gelatinous substance; they attribute the phenomenon to a parasite which is consuming the nitrium in the ship - and nitrium is also found in the dilithium chamber that powers the vessel…
