The U.S.S. Enterprise arrives at the planet Minos to investigate the mysterious disappearance of the U.S.S. Drake. Here Captain Picard and his crew are greeted by a recording of a salesman advertising the highly-advanced weaponry on the planet, which once dealt in arms during the Erselrope wars. Commander William Riker, Lieutenant Commander Data and Lieutenant Tasha Yar beam down to the surface, but are immediately attacked by a deadly floating device; it traps Riker in a transparent cube, before being destroyed by Yar. Picard and Doctor Crusher beam down to assist the away team, but the ground gives way and they both fall into a subterranean cavern, seriously injuring the doctor. Data is able to free Riker from his prison, and, together with Yar, they attempt to locate their missing comrades; meanwhile, the Enterprise comes under fire from an apparently invisible enemy, and it is up to Lieutenant La Forge to find a way to ward off the attack…
