'Star Trek: First Contact' by Rick Berman, Brannon Braga and Ronald D. Moore |
In the year 2373 the unstoppable might of the cybernetic Borg has returned to attack the Earth. But Starfleet has ordered the Enterprise to stay out of the fight due of Captain Picard's past experiences with the Borg. Realising that too much is at stake, Picard disobeys orders and takes the ship to Earth, where his knowledge of Borg technology leads the Federation fleet to victory. But at the last moment, a Borg sphere escapes by opening a temporal vortex, and Picard and his crew discover that the course of human history has somehow changed - the entire population of Earth is now Borg. The Enterprise follows the sphere, and travels back to 4th April 2063 - the day before the first warp flight. After the Enterprise destroys the Borg sphere, the crew help Zefram Cochrane - the inventor of warp drive - make repairs to his warp ship, the Phoenix. But then Picard makes a horrifying discovery: the Borg have survived. Not only is Earth’s first contact with a visiting alien race at risk, but the whole of mankind’s future is at stake…
