'Undone' by Sarah Dodd

The ‘Frosh Week’ celebrations at a university are disrupted when an anomaly opens on campus and a Lycaenops - a vicious, wolf-like lizard - menaces the students. When the Anomaly Detector at Cross Photonics issues a delayed alert, Evan and Toby race to investigate, calling in Mac and Dylan en route. Although the anomaly has since closed, Dylan is able to track the portal’s magnetic traces and the Lycaenops’ tracks, locating the creature just as it enters the campus library. After a tense chase amongst the darkened rows of bookshelves the SPG team manages to subdue the dinosaur, and after a call to Mac’s girlfriend, Sam, its tranquilised form is safely locked-up inside an armoured truck. While Evan, Dylan and Sam take the unconscious Lycaenops back to Cross Photonics, Mac and Toby remain on campus in case the anomaly reopens; they soon detect the portal again, but by the time they reach its location it has closed – but not before unleashing the Lycaenops’ mate... Meanwhile, at Cross Photonics, the creature wakes from its slumber and attempts to break out of the truck; when a security guard opens the vehicle to investigate he is brutally slain by the Lycaenops, which then goes on the loose inside the facility. Hearing the commotion, Sam rushes to see what has happened to her colleague – but then she too is killed by the savage creature…
