Episode 5.5 by Michael A. Walker |
An angry Lester calls the team together to discuss the developments while he was away: Matt has come from the future to stop Philip, who was in league with Helen Cutter, and with Connor’s help has built a machine that will lead to the end of the world. Interrupted by Philip’s arrival, everyone carries on as normal - until the Anomaly Detector warns of a portal in the middle of London; as television news reports begin covering the appearance of a ferocious Tyrannosaurus Rex on the loose in Baker Street Plaza, Lester announces that the A.R.C.’s greatest secret is out at last… While Lester pays a visit to the Minister, and Connor distracts Philip, Matt, Abby, Emily and Becker take a team of soldiers to deal with the incursion; Matt manages to bring down the creature single-handedly, but his success is short-lived: to everyone’s horror, Jess reports that anomalies are now appearing all over the world, releasing more dinosaurs and causing mass panic on a global scale. It is the event Matt has been dreading: ‘Convergence’, a natural phenomenon when the Earth’s magnetic poles swap, and which is now causing the creation of the portals. In Connor’s lab, Philip reveals that he has been expecting this occurrence all along, and that, based on Connor’s work, ‘New Dawn’ can close all the anomalies by absorbing their energy into one huge, man-made portal. Taking Connor to the Prospero complex, Philip quickly runs into gridlock, as the terrified population of London flee the city; taking a short cut, Philip drives into an underground car park, but the vehicle is rammed by a Kaprosuchus, causing it to crash. Elsewhere, the A.R.C. team split up to deal with the multiple incursions: Abby and Becker stop a carnivorous worm at a nearby school, while Matt and Emily race to intercept Philip before he can reach activate his anomaly machine. Having had no luck with the Minister, who is too preoccupied with the publicity surrounding the incursions, Lester orders Matt to take down Philip by any means, and then stays to help Jess coordinate the teams on their missions. Emerging unscathed from his upturned car, Philip finds Connor unharmed but trapped inside the wreckage; ignoring his protégé’s pleas not to activate the super-anomaly, Philip continues on to Prospero, leaving Connor at the mercy of the Kaprosuchus… Arriving at the Prospero complex, Matt and Emily come under attack from a flock of pterosaurs; as they attempt to evade the vicious creatures and find a way into the base, they are unaware that Philip has now reached the control room – and has started the countdown to the activation of ‘New Dawn’…
