Episode 4.1 by Paul Mousley |
With Danny, Abby and Connor lost in time for over a year, and Sarah killed in action, James is forced to assemble a new team for the Anomaly Research Centre, recruiting specialists Matt Anderson and Jess Parker to the project. Following a governmental edict, the ARC is now funded by financier Philip Burton, and has been relocated to much larger premises in the North of England…
When the captive Dracorex escapes from the Menagerie during routine maintenance, Captain Becker and his men spring into action; however, it is Matt who quickly deals with the creature, imprisoning it inside James’ office, an act that doesn’t go down well with his boss. Becker is still unsure of his new colleague, and a macho face-off is soon taking place between him and Matt over the team’s new Electro-Magnetic Disruptors; unfortunately Becker loses, much to Matt’s amusement. Meanwhile, in the Cretaceous Period, Abby and Connor have been using their wits and skills to stay alive, under constant threat from raptors and a giant spinosaurus. Connor resolutely believes that the anomaly that transported them back in time will re-open, but Abby is no longer sure, the strain of their situation finally getting to her. When Abby’s blanket is stolen by a raptor Connor goes to retrieve it from the creature’s nest; he soon makes a startling discovery: the raptor has also found Helen Cutter’s discarded Anomaly Detector – Connor and Abby can finally go home! Connor quickly activates the device and the anomaly opens – but before he and Abby can get through, their way is blocked by the arrival of the spinosaurus. Luckily, Abby’s plan to use the raptor as a distraction works, and as the spinosaurus finds a new meal, the two time-travellers jump through the portal and emerge in the present day, in the middle of a city centre. Back at the A.R.C., Jess detects the newly opened anomaly, and a team quickly is despatched to investigate; it isn’t long before Captain Becker makes a happy reunion with Abby and Connor. Showing off the A.D., Connor attempts to close the anomaly – but the device malfunctions, and as the anomaly widens the spinosaurus bursts through and goes on a rampage through the city centre…
