Fourteen years ago: three boys, Patrick, Jimmy and Ryan, sneak into a house on a dare only to be attacked by a small but vicious creature – and only Ryan escapes with his life…

Now, at the A.R.C.: By using Sarah’s extensive research into monsters of ancient myths and legends to identify all known time anomalies, Cutter has created a 3D model that enables him to predict where and when new portals will open. Believing he has found the site of the next anomaly, Cutter despatches Connor, Abby and Jenny to the area – unaware that it is the same house in which Patrick and Jimmy were once killed. The trio arrive at the property to find it long-abandoned and strewn with police crime-scene tape. As they make their way through the house, they fail to see a mysterious, chameleonic creature stalking them from just inches away… Meanwhile, Helen manages to steal Sarah’s pass to the ARC, and uses it to send one of her clone soldiers to retrieve a sample of Cutter’s DNA; however, Captain Becker and his men detect the intrusion, and the clone is shot down before he can escape. Cutter is concerned, as the soldier is the same man he saw die back in the Silurian Era… Back at the house, Connor, Abby and Jenny meet Detective Constable Danny Quinn, Patrick’s brother, who warns them away from the house; their appearance opens old wounds, and Quinn decides to find out why they are there. Jenny and Connor track down Ryan and learn of the disappearances of his friends, and of a glowing light and the strange creature; meanwhile, Abby meets a young girl named Emily, who appears to be keeping the deadly predator as a bizarre pet...
