Nick calls a secret meeting with Connor, Abby and Stephen to warn them that someone at the A.R.C. is working against them, but their discussion is interrupted by an alarm from the Anomaly Detector – a portal has opened on the M25 motorway. As Nick, Connor and Abby rush off to investigate, Stephen receives another visit from Helen; when he confronts her about the conspiracy, Helen’s devious response is to implicate James Lester as the traitor. Arriving at the motorway, Nick and his team find an enraged Columbian Mammoth on a rampage, trampling cars in its wake; they are unaware that another creature is nearby, something that has already slaughtered one of the fleeing motorists… While Nick frees a woman trapped inside her car, Connor gets her son to safety; Abby pays a speedy visit to a nearby safari park, returning with a quantity of elephant urine to draw the mammoth into the portal. However, as the team put their plan into action, the anomaly suddenly closes, forcing Nick to improvise and trap the mammoth inside a lorry. Leaving the police to begin a clean up operation, and Jenny to deal with Mick Harper, an inquisitive reporter from the Evening News, Nick is furious to see Stephen drive up with Helen – he immediately sacks his assistant and storms off in anger. Abby takes the mammoth back to the Anomaly Research Centre and secures it in a holding cell, much to Lester’s irritation; meanwhile, Leek oversees a team of soldiers as they secretly bring in another animal trapped on the M25: one of the vicious future predators. Stephen soon finds himself alienated from his colleagues, and when his attempt at reconciliation results in a punch in the face from Nick, he turns to Helen for comfort. Nick and Connor set a trap for the traitor, reprogramming the Anomaly Detector to give a false alarm and a fake portal location. Leek meets with Caroline to pay her off for stealing Abby’s pet dinosaur, Rex. Putting their plan to trap the traitor into operation, Nick, Connor and Abby lie in wait inside a church; after a few hours, a squad of A.R.C. soldiers arrives – along with Jenny. Believing they have found their spy, Nick pulls a gun on Jenny, but she that knows nothing of a conspiracy, and that she was sent there by Leek. Back at the Anomaly Research Centre, Lester receives a video call from Leek: having evacuated the complex Leek has released the future predator inside the building – using a neural implant the creature is now under his remote-control, and its mission is to kill Lester…
