Twenty-four year old bartender Jaime Sommers struggles to make her life work, looking after her rebellious sister, Becca, after their parents died, while dating handsome and brilliant college professor Will Anthros. Over dinner one night, Jaime tells Will that she is pregnant, and her elated boyfriend responds by asking her to marry him; some time later the two lovers drive home, but their car is hit by a truck, which sends the vehicle spinning out of control. Will pulls himself from the wreckage, only to discover that his fiancé has been severely injured in the crash; he immediately rushes her to Wolf Creek Biotech Research Facility, where he uses the experimental nanite and biosynthetic technology he has been secretly developing for the government to replace Jaime’s legs, right arm, right eye and ear. Regaining consciousness, Jaime is shocked to learn that she has lost her baby, and that her limbs have been replaced by artificial constructs. Meanwhile, Will’s boss, Jonas Bledsoe, decides to use Jaime as the next candidate for his combat programme; Will objects, citing that three years ago the previous subject, Sarah Corvus went psychotic and was shot while trying to escape. After Will helps Jaime to escape Jonas is furious, and sends a team of soldiers to retrieve her; but the girl’s bionics easily enable her to outrun her pursuers, and Jonas reluctantly agrees to call off the search. Struggling to come to terms with her newfound abilities, Jaime attempts a return to her normal life with her sister. Meanwhile, government agent Jae Kim visits Blackwell Super-Max Prison and learns from Will’s imprisoned father that his girlfriend, Sarah Corvus, is very much alive. Working at the bar one night, Jaime is badly disorientated when her bionic ear and eye come online; she then encounters Sarah – the woman responsible for her car crash. After Sarah vanishes into the crowd, Jaime turns to Will, who explains that he used his father’s work on implants for amputee soldiers in the Gulf to restore her body – Jaime is now worth $50 million! When Will is suddenly hit by a sniper’s bullet Jaime uses her bionics to leaps across buildings and confront their attacker, Sarah Corvus, who reveals that she is the first bionic woman. Facing off, the two super-powered women engage in a violent battle…
