'Knight of a Thousand Devils' by Peter Allan Fields

Michael and K.I.T.T. help out on an F.B.I. raid to capture wealthy mobster Ronald Becker; but things go wrong, and a friend of Michael’s is killed during the criminal’s escape. Together with RC3, Michael and K.I.T.T. follow Becker’s trail to a secret dune-buggy race, which the villain is planning to use as cover so that he can cross the border into Mexico…
