Doctor Who Logo An Adventure at Glorious Goodwood The Doctor

While the Doctor undergoes a medical check at U.N.I.T. headquarters at the orders of the Brigadier, Sarah test-runs the Whomobile on the racing circuit at Goodwood, where British Leyland are holding a demonstration day. Sarah is unaware that a squad of Daleks have arrived at the location, planning to capture the Whomobile for the Dalek Supreme. As she drives on the race track, Sarah is stopped by two Daleks and their guard creature, Aggedor from the planet Peladon. Luckily Sarah is rescued by a team of U.N.I.T. soldiers, and in the ensuing battle the Daleks and Aggedor are sent fleeing. Pleased with how she dealt with the incident, Sarah heads off in the Whomobile to get a nice cup of tea at U.N.I.T. HQ…

Jon Pertwee (The Doctor), Elisabeth Sladen (Sarah Jane Smith)

Notes:
*Featuring the Third Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith

*Time-placing: this untitled seven-minute story takes place after ‘The Monster of Peladon’

*The audio was pre-recorded and played at Goodwood, in West Sussex, to accompany action taking place on the racing circuit, as part of a public appearance by Jon Pertwee and Elizabeth Sladen in 1974; these live action sequences utilised costumes from the BBC, and an un-named driver drove Elisabeth Sladen around in the Whomobile. The soundtrack of the story was eventually edited together and released on CD on 5th September 2005, as part of the audio collection 'Doctor Who at the BBC' Volume 3

*It is not know who wrote this mini-episode; presumably it and the sequences at Goodwood were produced by BBC Events

*This is the only time the Whomobile has been referred to by name in a story

*I'm not counting this story as canon, but am including it in the timeline as it features actors from the show reprising their roles – plus it’s fun!
