Kiv finally has enough of Captain Zapp Brannigan’s egregiously disrespectful behaviour, and files a formal complaint against him. Found guilty by a DOOP council, Zapp is stripped of his rank and sent on some decidedly aggressive mandatory sensitivity training. The captaincy of Zapp’s ship, <I>The Nimbus</I>, goes to Leela, who has decided to leave her dead-end job at Planet Express. With Kiv taking leave to be with his family, Leela chooses her new crew: Fry as First Officer, and Bender as Science Officer. Leela’s first mission is to make first contact with the inhabitants of the planet Tactillia, whose air-based technology the DOOP want to secure for themselves. Unfortunately, the Peace Treaty ceremony is interrupted by the arrival of Zapp, whose training simulation spaceship has been hijacked by Doctor Gary Kind, one of the DOOP’s most notorious gropers, and who wants to poison the Tactillians’ valuable air supply…
