'Short Trips': 'Crime at the Cinema' (1 Part) by M H Norris |
With the police and U.N.I.T. baffled, the Doctor is called in to investigate the death of a strange humanoid alien and a missing person, Dylan Edrick, at a cinema in Maidenhead. Recalling that she once met Edrick while investigating a big story at Webover Entertainment, Sarah questions his worried friends and clashes with his colleague, Orville Ashton. Meanwhile, the Doctor examines the alien in U.N.I.T.’s mobile lab, and discovers that the creature from the planet Yiffen was wearing a disguise to make it appear as Edrick, and that it was poisoned by a human drug used to induce vomiting. Sarah deduces that the drug was given to ‘Dylan’ by his colleague Randall, believing it would make Edrick mildly sick, and sabotaging his chance at securing a promotion they were both competing for. As the police deal with the situation, Sarah is pleased that she was able to use her investigative journalist skills to uncover the truth.
