'Children in Need': 'Destination: Skaro' by Russell T Davies

On the planet Skaro, Chief Scientist Davros leaves his prototype Mark III Travel Machine, intended to house the radiation-mutated remains of the Kaled race, in the hands of his assistant. Just then a blue box crashes through the wall, destroying the Travel Machine’s robotic claw device in the process; a skinny man with big hair emerges from this ‘Police Box’, and promptly identifies the travel machine as a ‘Dalek’ - a word that the assistant immediately writes down as a good name. Realising he has broken the ‘Dalek’, the skinny man hands the assistant a plunger device, and then hastily re-enters the box, which disappears into thin air. Luckily for the assistant, when Davros returns, he is quite taken by the Travel Machine’s new plunger arm…
