'Spike': 'A Dark Place' (Part 1) by Victor Gischler

After parting ways with the love of his life, Buffy Summers, Spike takes the Bug Ship to the dark side of the moon to assuage his sorrows with some serious drinking. The Bug crew become concerned at their master’s melancholy brooding, and decide to take matters into their own hands (er… feelers). Their plan proves successful, albeit for the wrong reasons, and Spike starts to pull himself together – until a gang of mercenaries arrives on the scene, and seizes control of the ship...
