The war is over: the Slayers have been de-powered, Willow has lost her magick, and Giles is dead. While Angel remains in a state of shock from his actions, Spike returns to his spaceship crewed by giant bugs, Willow splits up from Kennedy, and Buffy resumes her old life, taking a job as a waitress in a coffee bar and staying at Dawn and Xander’s apartment while she picks up the pieces. At the reading of Giles’ will, Buffy is shocked and upset to discover that her former Watcher has only left her a single object, a book on Vampyres, and that he chose Faith to inherit everything else. Not only that, the girls that Buffy once called friends now resent her interference in their lives, and vampires are still popular in the hearts and minds of the public. Undaunted, Buffy resumes her role as the one true Slayer, saving the world from the undead menace...
