'The Long Way Home' (Part IV) by Joss Whedon

With Willow his prisoner, Warren exacts his revenge by performing a lobotomy on his helpless captive. Buffy and Xander prepare for a rescue mission, using magic to track the source of the teleportation portal that snatched their friend. Willow’s mind slips into the astral plane, where the ancient witches hope to keep her mind safe while Warren dissects her physical form. The portal leading to the military base holding Willow is reopened, but before Buffy and Satsu can step through, General Voll and his soldiers activate a weapon that sends a destructive beam of power blasting through the rift; luckily Xander is one step ahead of them, and the beam is reflected back with the aid of a mirror. As the dust settles, Buffy and Satsu deal with the soldiers, and then see off a magical attack by Amy; outgunned, Amy spirits herself and Warren to safety. Having freed Willow, who has made a full recovery using the last of her healing powers, Buffy finds Ethan Rayne’s cell; however, the warlock has already been killed by Voss – and the General is another of those wearing the mysterious mark of ‘Twilight’…
