Part 5: 'Desperate Measures' by Christos Gage

Buffy has agreed to become a Trustee of the ‘Safe Zone’, to get blood for Spike, and to find a way out of the internment camp for her friends. Keeping the peace is no easy task, especially with the Ogre stirring up trouble against the Slayer. Willow manages to secure the release of two of her non-practicing Wiccans; however, to free the others she will have to remove their powers against their wishes. Buffy intervenes on the Ogre’s plan to create an uprising, which results in a massive battle against the demon and his forces; when Buffy easily triumphs, working off some steam in the process, she is given the chance to work outside the camp, guarding the work crews. The Slayer uses the opportunity to scope out the factory complex, and discovers that the inmates are making machine parts in the shape of runes, implying that the government is using magic to destroy magic. Meanwhile, the defeated Ogre plots revenge by ordering the Slayer’s murder…
