'I Wish' (Part 1) by Christos Gage

Learning that her roommates have taken on a pair of dumbass jocks as new roomies, Buffy gives notice on her apartment. Also looking for new accommodation are Dawn and Xander, now that they have split up. Luckily for all, Detective Dowling asks Giles and Willow for help in exorcising an apartment block of ghosts, providing an opportunity for the gang to get a new place to live. Arriving at the old haunted building, Buffy and Spike stay on point while Giles and Dawn prepare to perform the ritual – but then a hideous creature made of eyeballs and tentacles bursts up from the floor and attacks them. The gang fight back… and then wake up in an idyllic suburb, each living the life they always yearned for: Buffy has her parents back, Giles has his lost childhood, and Spike is William again, living with his mother. Clearly something is wrong – but can the gang see through the illusion and get back to reality…?
