'Triggers' by Christos Gage and Nicholas Brendon

When the police Special Victim’s Unit calls on Buffy and Spike to help investigate reports of a man assaulting staff at the Mission Women’s Centre, they quickly identify the perpetrator as an incubus. Inspector Dowling also has another case, a psychic under demonic possession, so Buffy and Spike give the case to Xander, to bring him out of his bed-ridden funk. Teaming up, Xander Giles and Dowling defeat the demon, but as the psychic comes round after the battle, she tells Xander that Anya’s ghost is not all she seems… While Xander keeps that worrying thought from his spectral ex, Buffy and the WMC’s councillor are attacked by the incubus; both fall under his power, until Spike crashes in, allowing Buffy to deal with the creature. Elsewhere, ‘Anya’ makes a rendezvous with her mysterious master…
