'Angel and Faith': 'What You Want, Not What You Need' (Part 1) by Christos Gage

Angel’s grand plan has finally come together: he has Rupert’s corpse, restored to vitality by the Crown of Coils, and his soul, fully reassembled and contained within the Essuary. All that remains now is to bring them together using the Lazarene Incantation – a spell that will most likely kill the user. Learning of Dawn’s predicament, Spike races off to join Buffy, leaving Angel and Faith to convince Alasdair to hand over his valuable collection of magical object to power the ritual. After some ‘persuading’, Soames eventually gives in, and he begins preparations for casting the spell. With the aid of Giles’ youthful great-aunts, Lavina and Sophronia, Angel starts the recitation – but then Whistler, Pearl and Nash crash the scene, and a brutal fight breaks out…
