'The Woman King' Story Code: '314' by Michael Angeli |
Helo is assigned the task of overseeing the arrival of three-hundred refugees aboard the Galactica; but when each of the evacuees is examined by civilian medic Doctor Mark Robert, it quickly becomes apparent that they are all suffering from Malorak Sickness. Whilst the majority of those people infected are easily treatable, the problem lies with the Sagitarons, whose religious beliefs forbid them to take any form of medicine. President Roslin begins her preparations for Baltar’s trial, only to receive a warning from Tom Zarek that it will cause unrest amongst the population, and could even lead to an assassination attempt on the prisoner’s life; predicting that it could bring down the fleet, Zarek urges Roslin to introduce martial law during the proceedings. Athena visits the imprisoned Caprica 6 in her cell and thanks her for helping rescue her daughter, Hera. Caprica 6 is unaware that she is being monitored by Roslin, and she continues to have visions of her lover, Baltar. Helo hears reports accusing Doctor Robert of malpractice: a woman accuses him of killing her son, while another evacuee’s father dies after the doctor administers a drug without their consent. Even though Roberts has recently cured Hera’s illness, Helo’s suspicions are aroused; his investigations soon lead him to conclude that Doctor Roberts is a racist, and that he is deliberately murdering Sagitarons…
