'Litmus' Story Code: '106' by Jeff Vlaming |
Chief Petty Officer Tyrol and Lieutenant Boomer Valerii continue with their romantic assignations, despite the fact that their affair violates the officers’ code of conduct. Doral – a man previously abandoned by the fleet under suspicion of being a Cylon agent – suddenly reappears on board the Galactica with a bomb strapped to his chest – which he promptly detonates. Colonel Tigh pushes Commander Adama clear, saving his life, but three crewmen are killed in the ensuing blast; the event prompts Adama to contact the President to request that an announcement be made revealing the truth about the Cylon humanoid copies, even though it could cause a panic. On Caprica, Helo desperately searches for the kidnapped ‘Boomer’, unaware than she has now joined Number 6 and another Doral replica, and is studying his every move. Back on the Galactica, Sergeant Hadrian of Internal Security is put in charge of an investigation into the Cylon infiltration, to uncover the identity of a possible traitor who may have helped the enemy get on board. Hadrian begins questioning each the crewmembers, but soon uncovers a number of conflicting reports concerning Tyrol’s whereabouts that night. Tyrol is brought before a tribunal to account for himself, but rather than compromise Boomer, Tyrol chooses to invoke Article 23: the right to silence. His decision sends events spiralling out of control, and signals the beginning of a witch-hunt…
