'Flesh and Bone' Story Code: '108' by Toni Graphia |
President Laura Roslin experiences a strange nightmare, in which she is pursued through a dark forest by a squad of armed soldiers, only to be rescued by a strange man. When Roslin awakes, she is informed that the captain of the Gemenon Traveller has captured a humanoid Cylon agent named Leoben Conroy – who looks exactly like the man in her dream. Against Commander Adama’s advice, the President orders that Conroy be kept alive, and that he be brought immediately to the Galactica for questioning; Starbuck is assigned the task of conducting the interrogation. Meanwhile, Boomer approaches Chief Petty Officer Tyrol and asks him if they could get back together if she could prove that she is not a Cylon. Starbuck begins interrogating Conroy, who arrogantly tells her that he has hidden a nuclear warhead on one of the fleet’s ships, which will explode in twelve hours; when Conroy refuses to reveal the location of the device, Boomer orders the guards to beat him up, taunting the Cylon agent over his ability to turn off his pain receptors. However, Conroy merely remarks on his interrogator’s cunning, and goes on to refer to himself as ‘God’. Boomer visits Baltar and asks to be the first subject to be tested by his Cylon detector; when she reminds him that she saved his life on Caprica, Baltar is forced to agree, much to the satisfaction of the ever-present Number 6, who wonders how Boomer will deal with the results. Meanwhile, on Caprica, the Cylon ‘Boomer’ leaves a sleeping Helo and rejoins Number 6 and Doral; when she tells them that she and Helo have just had sex, Number 6 instructs her to convince Helo to stay with her on Caprica to start a life together. Back at the Galactica, Starbuck’s interrogation of Conroy has brought no success; as their battle of wits continues Starbuck is forced to resort to more brutal tactics. But with time running out, President Roslin then decides to take matters into her own hands…
