'Faith' Story Code: '406' by Kevin Fahey |
With her crew in mutiny, Starbuck is relieved of her command by Helo, who gives the order to return to the Galactica; however, as Gaeta begins preparations for the FTL jump he is shot in the leg by Anders, who still remains loyal to his captain. The shock of Gaeta’s injuries immediately diffuses the situation, allowing Starbuck to regain control.; she then proposes a compromise: while the Demetrius returns to the fleet, she, Leoban, and a small crew will take a Raptor out in search of Earth; Helo agrees, promising to give them fifteen hours before leaving… Aboard the Galactica, the effects of President Roslin’s cancer treatment are taking their toll, and after befriending a fellow patient, Emily Kowlski, she begins to see Baltar's appeal to his followers. Making the jump to the Cylon baseship, Starbuck and her team are elated to find it in orbit around the planet Jupiter – they have finally arrived in Earth’s solar system. When their Raptor is badly damaged by debris from the Cylon civil war, the ship is brought aboard the baseship for repairs, where an uneasy alliance between the humans and Cylons is forged. Athena comes face to face with her duplicates, and promptly turns down their appeal that she leads a mutiny against the Sixes. Number Six faces off with Barolay, the woman responsible for killing her back on New Caprica; unable to suppress her hostility against the marine, Six murders Barolay, forcing Natalie into executing her in turn to balance the scales. Taken to meet the hybrid, Starbuck is disappointed to find the Cylon babbling incessantly in her nutrient pool – until she turns to Starbuck and addresses her as ‘The Harbinger of Death’…
