'Epiphanies' Story Code: '213' by Joel Anderson Thompson |
As President Roslin’s condition continues to deteriorate, she is rushed to the Galactica’s infirmary. Near death, she begins experiencing flashbacks to her life in Caprica City, recalling her time spent with President Adar – and a sighting of Baltar and a beautiful blond woman, who seems strangely familiar… When Starbuck takes a Viper squad out for weapons practice, Lieutenant Kat’s fighter suffers a weapons malfunction that causes her guns to explode. Kat and Starbuck return to the Galactica, where Chief Tyrol determines the cause to be sabotage; he calls an immediate recall of all fighters so they can be checked. After Doctor Cottle discovers genetic abnormalities is Boomer’s foetus, President Roslin fears for the fleet’s safety, and orders that the Cylon’s pregnancy be aborted. Citing the child’s strategic importance, Vice President Baltar protests to Admiral Adama, but to no avail. Number 6 reappears to Baltar, seemingly jealous of his love for her duplicate, which he freed from captivity aboard the Pegasus; 6 tells Baltar that the only way to save “their” child will be to use the nuclear warhead he obtained for his research. Adama informs Helo of the President’s decision concerning his child; badly shaken, Helo requests that he be the one to tell Boomer. Apollo investigates the cause of the sabotage, tracing it to civilian maintenance worker Asha Janik – only to discover that she is a member of ‘Demand Peace’, a fanatical group of Cylon sympathisers…
