'Daybreak' (Part 1) Story Code: '419' by Ronald D. Moore

Caprica City, Before The Fall: Adama considers one last command before retirement; Baltar meets a mysterious blonde woman, who helps him with his irascible father; Apollo meets Starbuck; Roslin throws her sister a baby shower – then loses her family in a tragic car accident.

Now: Apollo oversees the Galactica’s decommissioning, while Admiral Adama packs for his transfer to quarters on the Cylon Baseship. Starbuck struggles to decipher the meaning of the song she and the Final Five have been hearing. Baltar asks Apollo for a place on the Quorum but his request is instantly turned down, as Apollo refuses to believe that the selfish Baltar really has his people’s interests at heart. After Starbuck tells Adama about the body she found on Earth, the Admiral decides to reconnect Anders to the Cylon systems to ask him a question; based on what he hears, Adama then decides to authorise the mission to rescue Hero, and so he and Starbuck turn to the crew for volunteers for the dangerous assignment…
