Having located a planet rich in water, preparations are made to replenish the fleet’s supplies. Although the planet’s seas are high in salt, the water in its ice is pure - the only problem is that it will take a workforce of a thousand men to retrieve it. Against Adama’s recommendations, President Rosen decides to use the convicts aboard the prison ship Astral Queen; she sends Apollo and a team from the Galactica across to the ship to offer the criminals the chance to earn ‘reward points’ in exchange for their manpower. However, the prisoners’ leader is none other than Tom Zarek, a political terrorist and leader of a dissident movement. Under Zarek’s leadership the prisoners mount a successful breakout and take Apollo and the others hostage. Then Zarek issues his demands: the President and her government must step down immediately, so that a new President be duly elected…
