Surrounded by zombie pirates, Angel swims Fred and the rowing boat to the safety of a nearby volcanic island. To Angel and Fred’s dismay, not only do the pirates swim after them, they also come face-to-face with Angelus and Darla, who have sought shelter from the sun. Having worked out who Angel really is, Angelus and Darla reluctantly agree to an unlikely alliance, helping hold back the zombies while Fred elicits Illyria’s help. The demon finally returns, and unleashes a torrent of molten magma that destroys the zombies and scarabs. Caught in the path of the lava, Illyria is forced to time jump herself, Angel, Angelus and Darla into the future…
