'Doomsday' by Tony DiFranco

As a fierce heatwave grips the city, the aliens divert the water supply, triggering outbreaks of fighting amongst the dehydrated populace. With their headquarters overrun with rats, Kincaid takes Harrison, Suzanne and Debi to the safety of a nearby church run by his friend, the Reverend Thomas Solter, his wife Grace and their son Steven. But the aliens have also set their sights on the church, planning to corrupt the reverend’s beliefs and thereby sow dissent amongst his congregation. By staging a series of ‘miracles’ – causing water to flow from the font and then making it appear that the reverend has cured a cripple – the invaders ensure that Thomas is pronounced as a messiah; then they kidnap Steve and replace him with an evil clone, making everyone believe that Thomas has raised his own son from the dead...
