Alan is on ‘space junk’ duty, using <I>Thunderbird 3</I> to clear up all the debris in orbit around the Earth. However, one fragment of wreckage turns out to be an automated heat-seeking space mine – which Alan inadvertently activates. The mine immediately locks onto <I>Thunderbird 3</I>’s engines, and a thirty-minute countdown begins. As Alan pilots his ship in a series of evasive manoeuvres to keep the mine on his tail and away from any other passing spaceships, John and Brains desperately try to locate the kill code that will deactivate the mine. Unfortunately the only record is on a paper file held in the Consolidated File Archive, a top-secret underground storage facility protected by a thick layer of government bureaucracy. With time running out, John calls on the help of Lady Penelope and her ex-con chauffeur Parker to help break into the archive...
