A Martian space probe is being transported to its launch site, but as it crosses the Allington Suspension Bridge the bridge collapses, causing the rocket to tip into the river and sink to the bottom, where it is quickly buried beneath tons of rubble. The two technicians trapped inside the nose-cone realise with horror that the impact has activated the automatic countdown. The team of <I>International Rescue</I> begins a race against time to free the trapped men before the rocket will be blown to pieces…
