After Lady Penelope launches <I>Ocean Pioneer I</I>, the ship then mysteriously disappears. When <I>International Rescue</I> later experiences mysterious radio blackouts in the same area of the ocean, Brains traces the effect to the explosive reaction caused when <I>Ocean Pioneer</I>’s cargo of liquid alsterene came into contact with OD60, a chemical dumped at sea. <I> Ocean Pioneer II</I> is now about to be launched, also loaded with a cargo of liquid alsterene - and is heading for the same fate as its predecessor...
