'Genesis' by Terry Nation

Returning from Holland, engineer Greg Preston lands his helicopter in England, only to discover that his wife has succumbed to the deadly virus that has decimated most of the world’s population. Wracked with grief Greg sets off in his car, driving aimlessly across the country until he meets the scheming Anne Tranter. Anne asks for Greg’s help as her associate, a man named Vic Thatcher, has been badly injured in a tractor accident as the two of them were unloading a consignment of alcohol at the quarry where they have set up a stockpile. Meanwhile, Abby meets ex-union leader Arthur Wormley, an overbearing man who has imposed his own martial law in the area, and who now plans to set up a governing body based upon the old feudal baron system. After Greg attempts to set Vic’s broken legs he leaves to get medical supplies from a town close by, where he encounters Jenny. The two of them return to the quarry, but Anne lies and tells them that Vic is dead; the three of them drive off, leaving Vic alone and helpless…
