Planet of the Apes Cast

Galen’s claims of seeing a flying reptile are explained away when Virdon and Burke see a glider flown by a human, which promptly crashes. They rescue the pilot, Lurik, just as gorilla troopers arrive and take the remains of the glider back to Central City for investigation. Here a female chimpanzee scientist named Carsia, manages to convince Doctor Zaius to let her track down the pilot and learn all she can about flight. She travels to the coastal village near the site of the crash, and her accompanying gorillas capture Lurik, who is busy building a new glider with the help of Virdon and Burke. After Carsia instructs Lurik to build her a glider, Galen poses as a scientist and pays her a visit; by a ruse he causes a magnifying glass to accidentally destroys the glider, and then offer the services of his own servants, Virdon and Burke, so that they can smuggle in a working glider which Lurik can use to escape. But then the two astronauts find fragmentation bombs amongst Carsia’s equipment, and Galen learns that the scientist is planning to use the glider to drop bombs on the High Council, so that the chimpanzees can then assume power in the confusion…
