'The Good Seeds' (Story Code 'B501') by Robert W. Lenski

Pursued by gorilla troopers, Galen falls and breaks his leg. Virdon and Burke carry him to a nearby ape farm and manage to convince the farmer, Polar, to help their friend; in exchange, they are set to work on the farm, a task that they carry out effectively, much to Polar’s surprise. Meanwhile, one of the cows is close to calving, and the farmer’s eldest son, Anto, has been promised its offspring in order to start his own farm. When the cow becomes sick, Anto accuses the two ‘cursed’ astronauts of being to blame; however, Virdon was raised on a farm, and he is able to diagnoses that the cow is suffering because its calf needs to be turned. But while Virdon makes preparations to assist in the birth, he and his friends are unaware that Urko and his men are not far behind…
