Belor has now denied four segments of the Nidas from Rothgo and the children. Phil, Helen and Terry next arrive in 1565 during the Great Siege of Malta, as the Castille of Birgu is under siege from the invading forces of the Ottoman Epire. Here Terry and Helen meet the Knights Hospitallers’ Grand Master, Jean Parisot de la Valette, and the elderly Sir Hugo de Roth – Rothgo in disguise. Meanwhile, Phil is captured by a janissary, Hassam Ali, and brought before the Great Mustapha Pasha in the Turkish camp; Pasha is taken with the boy, and orders that Ali train him as a soldier, but as Phil leaves, he sees that Pasha’s woman, Salimar, is Belor in disguise. Pasha is frustrated that his forces are unable to breach the Castille’s walls, and quickly warms to Belor’s proposal that he build a huge, wheeled tower to scale the building’s walls; construction begins immediately, and it is not long before the assault is mounted. As the Grand Master’s men come under attack from the Turkish hoards, Belor confronts Sir Hugo, striking him down with a deadly blast of energy…
