Informant Mickey Patchen arranges to meet Kolchak, but when the reporter arrives he finds a fashion show in progress. While Kolchak waits in the audience, Patchen takes the opportunity to get some photographs of new fashion designs, unaware that several mannequins have come to life behind him – as Kolchak steps outside, he is startled to see Patchen plummet off the roof to his death. Talking to a model named Madelaine, Kolchak learns that the police believe Patchen to have been a fashion spy, but he himself remains sceptical. Later, another model named Melody Sedgewick, takes a shower, only to find herself locked inside the cubical, where she is scalded to death by boiling water. Kolchak is called by his contact Murray Vernon, who has information on a labour extortion racket; however, Vernon is gunned down before he can reveal anything. Kolchak then receives a visit from two hoodlums, who demand that he hand over documents they believe Vernon gave him; ignoring the reporter’s protests that he has no such papers, the thugs give him sixty hours to produce them. Kolchak visits leading fashion designer Madame Trevi, but she angrily throws him out when he suggests that she is involved in the deaths; he then meets Madelaine, who has just been given Melody’s job. Koclhak warns her to stay away from Madame Trevi, whom he believes to be a witch, but the model refuses to take him seriously. Taking action, Kolchak decides to visit a coven so that he can learn how to stop a witch; the members of the group instruct him to destroy the contents of an oak chest in Madame Trevi’s possession. Kolchak leaves to find the source of Madame Trevi’s power, unaware that the whole thing has been staged by Madeline - she is the real witch, and the objects inside the chest actually protect Madame Trevi from her evil spells. By destroying the items, Kolchak will unwittingly condemn both himself and Madame Trevi to death…
