'2001 and a Bit' by Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie

Twenty-five years in the future: Bill has been sacked for biting Graeme, Graeme has been put away for having an unnatural relationship with his computer, and Tim has become too old and knackered to carry on being a Goody. As Tim hands over the family business to his son, Bill, he explains how the lad’s mother, Raquel Welch, was a bit of a goer: she left Tim after she gave birth to three boys, and so the kids were handed over to their fathers to raise – the only problem is that the boys may have gotten muddled up at the hospital, as they don’t actually look like the dad they ended up with… Now in charge of the new Goodies, Bill Brooke-Taylor encourages his friend, Tim Garden, to help restore the country to greatness: it seems that now that everything has been legalised, everyone is bored out of their minds – everyone except Graeme Oddie, who is obsessed with the violent sport of ‘Rollerball’. Bill’s idea is to revive something really tedious and civilised from his father’s era: the forgotten game of ‘Cricket’…
