The Ghosts of Motley Hall Cast

While visiting Motley Hall, Gudgin hears a crash outside; with Matt following closely behind, he rushes to the scene and meets an eccentric elderly woman named Emily Tiffin, who has driven her car into a tree. Emily is one of the country’s leading psychic mediums - and she can now sense Matt’s ghostly presence; intrigued, Emily asks to remain in Motley Hall while Gudgin drives to a nearby garage to arrange for repairs to her car. Once inside the house, Emily uses her powers to summon up her spirit guide, an American Indian named White Feather. Sir George and the other ghosts arrive, and are astonished to learn that Emily can see them; they attempt to make Emily leave, but the medium refuses, insisting that she be allowed to free their wretched souls from ‘Earthbound’ torment – but the ghosts strongly object, as they like being Earthbound… As the argument continues, White Feather asks Bodkin for a favour: he would like to return to his ‘Happy Hunting Ground’ for a few hours, but Emily’s powers ensure that he cannot leave her side; however, if Bodkin would stand in for him, White Feather would be able to sneak away for a few hours. Eager to help, Bodkin agrees, and White Feather vanishes. But when Emily learns of their agreement she is furious; it seems that White Feather has tricked Bodkin into allowing him to go free, and if the Indian never returns, it means that Bodkin will be Emily’s new spirit guide instead…
